This itinerary takes you to Northern frontier Samburu game reserve, to the slopes of Mt. Kenya visiting Ol-pejeta conservancy the only place in Kenya to see chimpanzees and good for rhinos and big 5, heading to the floor of Rift Valley where Lake Nakuru is situated superb for bird watching and further south to the best game park in Africa- Masai Mara with the best wildlife viewing opportunities throughout the year. We take an outdoor break around Lake Naivasha an interesting spot and drive further to the slopes of Mt. Kilimanjaro before entering the extensive game-filled paradise of Tsavo eco system visiting both Tsavo west national park & Tsavo East national park and Taita hill sanctuary offering wonderful photography opportunity from the comfort of your room and the hotel’s restaurant as wildlife come to drink water from the waterhole followed by a beach stay/extension.

Day 1: Nairobi to Samburu

Depart Nairobi in the morning and drive through central Kenya and north across the equator to Samburu National Reserve. Arrive in time for an afternoon game drive. Dinner and overnight at a lodge or Samburu Ashnil camp

Day 2: Samburu game reserve
Full day in Samburu through morning and afternoon game drive, optional visit to Samburu village. Meals and overnight at a lodge or Samburu Ashnil camp

There is a wide variety of animal and bird life seen at Samburu National Reserve, three big cats, lion, cheetah and leopard, can be found here, as well as elephants, buffalo and hippos.
Other mammals frequently seen in the park include Olive baboon, gerenuk, warthogs, Grant’s gazelle, Kirk’s dik-dik, impala, waterbuck, Grevy’s zebra, Beisa oryx and reticulated giraffe, over 350 species of bird. These include Somali ostrich, grey-headed kingfisher, sunbirds, bee-eaters, marabou stork, tawny eagle, bateleur, vulturine guinea fowl, yellow-necked Spurfowl, lilac-breasted roller, palm nut vulture, red-billed hornbill, secretary bird, Verreaux’s eagle, superb starling, yellow-billed hornbill and vultures.
The Ewaso Ng’iro river contains large numbers of Nile crocodile.

Optional visit to a local Samburu village.

Day 3: Samburu -Mt Kenya [Ol Pejeta conservancy]

We drive to Mt Kenya region. Afternoon game drive at Ol Pejeta conservancy.

The conservancy boasts the largest black rhino sanctuary in East Africa. The Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary is situated here, and provides a haven for orphaned, abandoned and rescued chimpanzees. It is the only place in Kenya where these great apes can be seen. The Conservancy is host to the “Big five game” among a large selection of other African animals, which makes it a popular safari destination. We spend the night at lodge or tented camp.

Day 4: Lake Nakuru

After breakfast we drive to the floor of the Rift Valley – to Lake Nakuru Nat. Park with brief stop at Nyahururu Thomson Falls. Arrive Lake Nakuru Park after lunch, followed by a late afternoon game drive and bird watching. Dinner and overnight at flamingo hill tented camp or Sarova lion hill or Nakuru Sopa lodge.

Day 5: Nakuru to Masai Mara

Early morning gamedrive before departing for Masai Mara Game Reserve.  Lunch, followed by an afternoon game drive.  Dinner and overnight atlodge or tented camp.

Day 6 & 7: Maasai Mara

Two full day experiencing the Mara magic – Kenya’s premier reserve famed for its astounding concentration of game through morning and afternoon game drives. Dinner and overnight atlodge or tented camp

Alternatively spend the entire day on a game drive (with packed lunches) returning to the camp in the early evening hours.

Optional balloon ride and/or Masai village visit

Day 8: Masai Mara – Naivasha

After breakfast we drive to Naivasha area. Afternoon spent at leisure or may opt to do optional activities (payable direct). Dinner and overnight at Lake Naivasha Sopa or Lake Naivasha crescent camp or Crater Lake camp.

There are many other optional activities you can do around Naivasha [payable direct], which includes:  A visit to Hells gate national park for a challenging gorge walk, game drive, cycling, rock climbing or swimming at the Ol-karia geothermal hot spa; A visit to Elsamere conservation centre; boat excursion & a visit to crescent island for a walk; crater lake walk- the choice is yours if time permits.

 

Day 9: Naivasha- Amboseli national park

Depart Naivasha in the morning via Nairobi and drive to Amboseli. Afternoon game drive. The park is small however very rewarding Dinner and overnight Amboseli sentrim camp or Amboseli Serena lodge.

Its second most popular park in Kenya after Masai Mara, mainly due to the spectacular backdrop of Mt. Kilimanjaro and great for its large herds of elephant.

Day 10: Amboseli National

Day spent game viewing with a morning and afternoon game drives. Dinner and overnight at Sentrim Amboseli camp or Amboseli Serena lodge.


Day 11: Amboseli to Tsavo west

We leave soon after breakfast for Tsavo West National Park. Visit Mzima Springs, which are favorite haunts of both the hippo and crocodile that can be seen from an underwater observation chamber. Dinner and overnight at Kilaguni Serena lodge or Ngulia rhino valley

Day 12: Tsavo west to Taita hills sanctuary

Early morning gamedrive, breakfast then relocate to Taita hills sanctuary, afternoon gamedrive or optional guided walks. Dinner and overnight at salt lick lodge

The lodge offer best viewing and photographic opportunities from their restaurant as wildlife come to drink water at the waterholes.

Day 13: Taita to Tsavo East

Enjoy an early morning breakfast and final glimpse at the watering hole before departing to Tsavo East. This park was famed for its large herds of elephant covered in red dust and fine scenery. We visit the scenic Lugards Falls, Mudanda Rocks (attracts elephants in the drier season) and Aruba Dam as we view game if time permits. Dinner and overnight Ashnil Aruba lodge.

Day 14: Mombasa [Watamu/Diani] or Nairobi

Morning gamedrive, breakfast then drive to Mombasa for drop off or may return to Nairobi. End of services
