The 5 Days Lake Mburo Bwindi- Gorilla & Queen Elizabeth Expedition is an unforgettable adventure through some of Uganda’s most stunning and diverse landscapes. The expedition takes you on a journey through two of Uganda’s most popular destinations: Lake Mburo National Park and Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, with a visit to Queen Elizabeth National Park along the way.

Your adventure begins at Lake Mburo National Park, where you’ll have the opportunity to see a variety of wildlife, including zebras, impalas, and buffalos. From there, you’ll head to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, where you’ll go gorilla trekking to see these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat.

Along the way, you’ll also visit Queen Elizabeth National Park, known for its incredible wildlife and stunning scenery. You’ll have the chance to go on game drives and boat safaris to see elephants, lions, hippos, and more, as well as the famous tree-climbing lions of Ishasha.

Throughout the 5 days, you’ll be accompanied by experienced guides who will share their knowledge and insights about the wildlife, culture, and history of Uganda. Day 1: Drive to Lake Mburo – boat ride and game drive

After breakfast, you will drive to Lake Mburo National Park. Enjoy the boat ride on Lake Mburo and get quite close to hippos and other animals by the lake. Birdwatchers will enjoy the more than 250 species of birds found in Lake Mburo including Papyrus Gonolek, Brown faced Lapwing. Carruther’s Cisticola, the extraordinary White winged Warbler and Bare-Faced-Go- Away bird. In the evening you will have a game drive along the Lakeshore track. Look out for herds of zebra, Cape buffalo and eland. Oribi and Topi can also be spotted.

Day 2: Morning nature walk, drive to Bwindi impenetrable NP

After breakfast, proceed for a game drive or a safari walk under the escort of an armed ranger. The leisurely pace of a walking safari also provides excellent opportunities for the keen photographer. This is a wonderful opportunity to encounter zebra, buffalo, kobs, waterbucks, warthogs and many birds species. The Kopjes are particularly interesting and camouflage kilpspringers. Due to cattle herding in the area it is amusing to see zebra grazing alongside the long horned Ankore Cattle peaceably. After the walk you will return to the lodge for breakfast before hitting the road to Bwindi. You will drive through the “Switzerland of Africa” area known as the Kigezi Highlands with its terraced hillside and winding roads to Bwindi.

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking

Early morning you will be briefed before starting the adventurous trek to the mountain Gorillas in Bwindi. This rainforest is spectacular. It offers a dramatic steeply forested landscape and is incredibly dense, but criss-crossed by numerous animal trails allowing access to tourists. Mammals recorded include the endangered mountain gorilla, rare golden monkey, buffalo, elephant, black-fronted duiker, bushbuck, leopard, giant forest log and others. This park is best known for the fascinating gorillas. The trek is led by experienced and armed ranger guides who will tell you many interesting facts about Gorillas. The thrill of spending time and observing the gorillas is a rare, moving, awesome and exciting adventure. The gorilla is a shy and peaceful animal and it is unforgettable experience to watch and photograph them as they interact.

Day 4: Drive to Queen Elizabeth NP via Ishasha, evening boat ride

Very early in the morning you will drive to Ishasha Area of Queen Elizabeth national park where you will have a game drive in search of the famous tree climbing lions and large herds of animals. The scenic beauty, the size of the euphorbias and combination of riverine forest, Savannah plain and equatorial forest makes this a memorable place, only found in Africa. You will be assisted by a ranger guide to track the big cats.

Afterwards you will proceed to the north of the park where you will enjoy the unique 2 hour boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel and into Lake Edward. This trip passes through possibly the highest concentration of hippos and many animals may be seen drinking at the water’s edge. This launch cruise offers an excellent platform for photography, bird watching and game viewing. The prolific bird life is colorful and stupendous with well over 550 resident species.

Day 5: Morning game drive, return to Kampala / Entebbe

Early in the morning you will have a game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park. The park’s diverse eco-system of grassy plains, tropical forest, rivers, swamps, lakes and volcanic craters is home to an incredible abundance of wildlife. Game drives in this park, with the massive

Rwenzoris as a backdrop provides excellent opportunities to see lion, leopard, giant forest hog, cape buffalo, elephants, defassa waterbuck, Uganda Kob, Topi and bush buck. The game drives and the boat trip (taken prior) are a memorable method of discovering a vast array of Ugandan wildlife. Drive back to Kampala stopping at the Mpigi Royal Drum Makers en route where you will able to watch the ceremonial drums being crafted using methods passed down through generations. There will also be time to stop at the equator for photographs. You arrive Kampala or Entebbe in the late evening.
